The Remarried Empress made its first move early

The early live-action launch is only one route into Navier’s royal divorce: the completed comic and a separate anime have different timelines.

The Remarried Empress has made its opening move a day early. Disney announced that the Korean drama’s first four episodes arrived on November 3, bringing forward a premiere previously scheduled for November 4. The larger question for newcomers is what happens after that opening batch—and why another adaptation of the same royal breakup is already on the way.

Disney’s schedule puts two new episodes on each Wednesday from November 11 until the November 25 finale. That makes a ten-episode run: four at launch, followed by three pairs. The announcement lists Disney+ and Hulu for the opening episodes, while its weekly schedule specifically names Disney+. Check the show’s listing in your region before planning around that calendar.

The original English-language webcomic listing explains the central reversal. Navier has built her life around being empress of the Eastern Empire. When her husband demands a divorce after bringing home a mistress, she accepts—but asks permission to remarry. The premise promises that she keeps an imperial title rather than simply being removed from the story.

That page marks the comic completed and retains its first episodes dated September 5, 2020. Readers who want to trace the story in its earlier form therefore have a separate starting point from the weekly television release. WEBTOON rates the comic Young Adult, for ages sixteen and over; that is the comic’s content classification, not a television rating or a promise that both adaptations will handle every scene identically.

The English listing showed 569.4 million views and 4.6 million subscribers when checked on November 5. Those counters describe activity on that edition’s page. They should not be read as a count of individual readers, or as the worldwide total across every version of the story.

There is a third version to keep separate. The official anime project has announced a 2027 adaptation, produced in animation by TROYCA and directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa. Yoko Hikasa voices Navier, with Ryohei Kimura as Heinrey, Tomoaki Maeno as Sovieshu and Reina Ueda as Rashta. Those are voice-cast credits for the anime, not additional performers in Disney’s live-action drama.

The anime announcement credits Alphatart, SUMPUL and HereLee as the source comic’s creators. Its promotional trailer and character artwork establish another interpretation in development; they do not announce a second season of the Korean show. For anyone seeing both projects circulate under the same title, the immediate choice is straightforward: the live-action run has begun, while the anime is scheduled for next year.
