The Greatest brings Ali’s family into the making of his story
Lonnie Ali is producing the new drama, which Amazon says had access to the boxer’s estate.
Muhammad Ali’s widow is helping bring his life to television. Lonnie Ali is an executive producer of The Greatest, the eight-part drama arriving on Prime Video on November 4, Amazon says.
Amazon describes it as the first authorized scripted series about the boxer and says the production received access to his estate. That establishes the family’s participation in the project; it does not settle how faithfully each scene portrays history.
Jaalen Best plays Ali. Ben Watkins, working through Blue Monday Productions, created the series and is its showrunner and an executive producer, Amazon says.
Producers include Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society. Further partners named in the Amazon account are Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company.
