Home Assistant brings its community store through the front door

HACS now comes with the software, while custom integrations retain their separate support status.

Trying Home Assistant’s community creations no longer starts with installing a separate store. The November 4 release brings HACS, the Home Assistant Community Store, into the software as Marketplace. It works across every installation type, including Container.

The shorter route does not turn custom integrations into officially supported tools. Home Assistant explains that its development team has not reviewed or tested them, that the project does not support them, and that they can affect an installation’s stability. Being available inside the app leaves that responsibility with the person choosing community code.

Administrators can find integrations, dashboard cards, themes and templates under Settings > Marketplace. Installing and updating projects from the catalog requires no GitHub account. Home Assistant says the Marketplace’s contents are free and will remain so.
