Crazy Rich Asians is getting a sequel with room to stretch
HBO is continuing the story as a series, with Michelle Yeoh returning in a recurring role.

Crazy Rich Asians is moving its next chapter to television. HBO’s October announcement greenlights a one-hour drama continuing after the film. Adele Lim describes the sequel as eight episodes instead of a single movie, giving the continuation a substantially different shape.
Lim will serve as showrunner and executive producer. The producing team also includes Kevin Kwan, Jon M. Chu, Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson, HBO says.
Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Ronny Chieng are listed as regulars. Michelle Yeoh’s booking is recurring. Those roles establish who is coming back, while the October greenlight leaves the premiere date open.
