City of God is reconnecting with its original film. Matheus Nachtergaele will reprise Cenoura in the second season of The Fight Rages On, HBO says, returning to the character he played in 2002.

The six-episode season was filmed in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. HBO’s synopsis follows newly elected councilwoman Berenice into conflict with political corruption and the militia’s expanding influence. Leka brings funk music and community parties into the story’s resistance.

The announced premiere is November 8 on HBO Latino in the United States. HBO also lists a worldwide HBO Max streaming release, subject to local availability. The returning film actor joins a television story now following struggles over the community’s political future.
