Amazon’s next smart-home view starts with a scan of your rooms
Alexa Home Map promises a 3D view of connected devices, with hardware and subscription requirements attached.

To control a light in Amazon’s planned Alexa Home Map, you would find it inside a three-dimensional view of your home. The October 28 announcement describes indoor and outdoor spaces populated with connected devices, bringing controls and camera views into the same map.
Building that model requires an address and a room-by-room scan with a compatible iPhone, followed by placing devices. Amazon also describes animated representations of people and vehicles detected by compatible Ring cameras, plus a timeline spanning the previous 24 hours.
The preview is planned for later in 2026. Access requirements vary: some functions need Alexa+, which Amazon includes with Prime; others require compatible Ring cameras and Ring Protect Pro or Virtual Security Guard subscriptions. The map is therefore a preview of a system whose available features depend on the equipment and services attached to it.
