Helldivers 2’s new bugs can take away your escape route

Webs and heavy poisoning stop sprinting, making preparation and your choice of target unusually consequential.

Helldivers 2’s newest bugs can take away your sprint. Arrowhead’s November 3 update introduces webs and escalating poison, two hazards that make escaping a close encounter harder.

A Noxious Spewer’s spit prevents sprinting. Light poisoning blurs vision and drains health; heavy poisoning increases the damage and blocks sprinting too. Stims treat poison, but the announcement does not identify them as a cure for webs.

Destroying the Spewer’s unarmoured abdomen releases webs that snare nearby Helldivers as well as bugs. Its smaller companion, the Noxious Scavenger, is fragile, quick and able to deliver poisonous bites in rapid succession.

Why the caves matter

Caves now have a chance to appear in additional biomes. Arrowhead describes short sightlines and blind corners, giving approaching enemies less distance to cover. Not every planet is guaranteed a cave.

Underground warfare has a history here. Arrowhead’s Into the Unjust announcement, published in August 2025 for a September 2 launch, introduced Hive Worlds beyond the Gloom. Their tunnels housed Hive Lungs associated with the fog, with objectives to locate and destroy those structures.

That earlier announcement warned that the Super Destroyer could not provide full support inside caves. It also described subterranean Warriors, Bile Spewers and Chargers burrowing toward players before emerging to attack. Those were earlier enemy descriptions, not names for the new Noxious strain.

The original Hive World push paired those underground targets with a different kind of surface objective: escorting a mobile oil rig between drill sites while defending it. For returning players, that history explains why preparing for underground fighting involves considering the mission environment as well as the enemy roster.

Prepare for a longer fight

The official beginner guide identifies an existing equipment option for carrying more treatment: the Med-Kit armour passive. Its Bonesnapper example adds two stims to carrying capacity and extends their gradual healing by two seconds. These are documented bonuses, not a claim that the armour grants immunity to venom.

Armour also has speed, stamina-regeneration and protection statistics, so the passive is one part of a loadout decision. The guide describes Warbonds as Medal-funded reward tracks that remain available once unlocked; premium tracks need Super Credits. Players can check existing unlocks before assuming preparation demands a new purchase.

Squad positioning deserves the same attention. PlayStation’s guide warns that munitions can injure teammates and recommends checking supplies before an engagement. Keeping a friendly firing lane clear is already part of survival. More ammunition is useful only if the squad can bring it to bear without hurting the people beside them.
